With the clock ticking down to the start of the much anticipated Ruby League World Cup to be held in Australia now less than a month away before England lock horns with Papua New Guinea on the 25th October at the Dairy Farmers stadium in Townsville I would like to give my tips for the countries that I think will do well in the tournament.

Well as it is Rugby you cannot look any further than host nation Australia and the current best team in the world in my eyes in neighbours New Zealand who have world class players throughout both their line ups that on their day can be breathtaking.

England have been drawn in what has to be the group of death paired with both the Aussies and the All Blacks so if you ask me barring a miracle they will not get through the group stages although their young team has improved quite a lot over the last 12 months and could throw up a surprise you never know.

Scotland and Ireland have a lot better chance of progression having been treated kindly at the draw with both playing teams that on their day they can beat. Scotland’s game against France will be the important one knowing that if they can win it they should make it out the group as I expect them to struggle in their game against Fiji who has some really explosive players also and might be a bit to strong for the Scottish boys.
But as for the winners I cannot look any further than the All Blacks and come the 22nd November in Brisbane I think they will overcome the home nation in a close run final.
